In this painting, I bring victorian portraits in the 21st Century within the context of the mass shooting crisis in America. The woman depicted has been defaced by a gun that has seemingly broken through the portrait. Foreshortening is used on the firearm to give the illusion of depth breaking through the portrait. With this work, I highlight the growing intrusiveness of the mass shooting crisis.
